惠蓀堂說明 Huisun Hall Description

中興大學的大禮堂取名惠蓀堂，是為了紀念對中興大學有卓越貢獻卻因公殉職的湯惠蓀校長。
農業專家湯惠蓀先生於民國五十二年（1963）出任改制為臺灣省立中興大學的第二任校長，任內提出許多長遠規劃，卻於民國五十五年（1966）十一月二十日在巡視學校的能高林場時，因心臟病發辭世。為了紀念他，能高林場改名為惠蓀林場，當時興建中的禮堂中興館也改名為惠蓀堂。
民國八十年（1991），新建的惠蓀堂落成，擁有四千多個座位，成為當時全國最大的禮堂，也是臺灣中部重要的藝文展演中心。
民國九十五年（2006），惠蓀堂內懸掛由五位校友書法家揮毫、十五公尺長的「湯故校長惠蓀週會講詞」，追思這位常以校訓「誠、樸、精、勤」叮嚀學子的校長。
The auditorium of National Chung Hsing University is named Huisun Hall to commemorate President Tang Huisun, who made outstanding contributions to National Chung Hsing University but died in the line of duty.
Agricultural expert Mr. Tang Huisun became the second president of the university, which was restructured into National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan in 1963. During his tenure, he proposed many long-term plans. However, on November 20, 1966, he passed away due to a heart attack while inspecting the school's Nenggao Forest Farm. In order to commemorate him, Nenggao Forest Farm was renamed Huisun Forest Farm, and the auditorium Zhongxing Hall under construction at that time was also renamed Huisun Hall.
In 1991, the newly built Huisun Hall was completed. It had more than 4,000 seats and became the largest auditorium in the country at the time. It was also an important arts and cultural performance center in central Taiwan.
In 2006, a 15-meter-long "Principal Tang Huisun's Weekly Speech" written by five alumni calligraphers was hung in Huisun Hall to commemorate this principal who often exhorted students with the school motto "Sincerity, Simplicity, Refinement, and Diligence."
